Price List
The Long-Term Cost of Domains
Two important truths about domain names:
  1. The most recognized domains are .com domains.
  2. The most significant cost of any domain name is its renewal price.
Example:
.COM 1st Year 2nd Year 3rd Year Total
Other Guy $0.99 $14.99 $14.99 $30.97
Cookie $8.99 $8.99 $8.99 $26.97
Free with Every Domain:
Domain Name System records point browsers to your Web site server(s).
• Total DNS Control:
Total DNS Control allows you to add one or multiple DNS1 "A Records" (IP addresses where your Web content exists), C records (Subdomains -- like a mail subdomain: mail.somecompanyname.com) or, commonly, TXT records (SPDF records to protect your email address from SPAM abusers). Having these DNS records available, directly at the registrar, will speed up the DNS lookup process for your Web site. This is not provided by all domain registrars but it's absolutely free at Cookie's Domain Shop.

Easily and automatically directs a domain name to an alternate one.
• Domain Forwarding:
Facilitates forwarding defensive domains2 to a primary domain. An example might be to access your Cookie's Domain Shop Online Group Calendar (https://sso.secureserver.net/login?app=calendar&realm=pass) from a more memorable URL3 address:
Click to try it. CookiesCalendar.com.

The Web site, forwarded to, appears to have your domain name.
• Domain Masking:
Domain Masking works exclusively with Domain Forwarding, allowing users to view content, from a more simple domain name, that might otherwise be a complex and confusing URL / IRL3. (However, if the URL/IRL, forwarded to, programatically demands to be the "top" document address, domain masking will be ineffective but domain forwarding will still work.)

• Domain Status Alerts:
If something about your domain changes, you'll receive an email alerting you to the changed status (so it's very important to maintain an accurate updated e-mail address, which is also an ICANN requirement -- Click to read the ICANN requirement. https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/contact-verification-2013-05-03-en ).

The domain cannot be transferred, even with an auth code.
• Domain Locking:
Protecting your domain from being transferred away is a justification for charging many times more for domains and refusing to allow legitimate owners from transferring their domains to more cost-effective registrars. At Cookie's Domain Shop, locking your domain will prevent the domain from being transferred away, until and unless domain locking is removed. This is an additional safeguard, added to the ICANN Domain Name Transfers procedures (https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/registrars/transfers-en), and it's completely free at Cookie's Domain Shop.

• Auto Renew Protection:
Critical and valuable domain names are lost simply because no one remembered to renew them. With Auto Renew Protection, your domain investment is protected as long as you maintain a current and funded method of payment on file.

1 DNS:
Domain Name System -- a method of locating the apprpriate protocol and server location for a Web site, for instance.

2 Defensive domains:
Defensive domains are domains registered to prevent cyber-squatters and competitors from registering confusingly similar domain names. Defensive domains can properly re-direct visitors who have simply entered a common typographical error, from a virtual (phone) keyboard for instance.
3 URL:
Uniform Resource Locator: a protocol specifier (like http:// ftp:// rtp:// etc.) and a Web address (like www.somecompanyname.com/?maybe_some_parameters_too ).

4 IRL:
Internet Resource Locator: an address that locates a resource on the Internet like https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/iana-functions-18dec15-en.pdf )

Quality

Your domains are registered and serviced by an ICANN accredited regisrar. These domains remain available to you to control, or to transfer to another ICANN registrar, providing you continue to renew the domains.

Security

Domain locking is provided, without additional charge, to prevent the accidental transfer of domain ownership, and stops anyone from redirecting your nameservers. Auto renew keeps your domains yours so you don't have to monitor expiration dates. Status alerts monitor your domain and provide instant alerts if there's been a change.
